U.S. President Barack Obama has released his original full birth certificate issued by the State of Hawaii. The document known as the "long form" birth certificate was released by the White House this morning. The document had been previously withheld for years despite repeated calls for its release.
At issue for years has been the U.S. Constitutional requirement that any U.S. President must be "natural born" inside the United States of America in order to hold the Office of President.
The State of Hawaii has refused (and continues to) to release the document directly citing its policy of not releasing such records without the consent of the person, or persons cited by the record or others having "a tangible interest" in the record.
